Katrina Knighton studied at The British School of Osteopathy (BSO), completing a four-year full time Integrated Masters of Osteopathy degree. Katrina is fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council and is a member of the British Osteopathic Association.
Prior to studying at the BSO, Katrina worked as a healthcare assistant in hospitals in Devon and in London and then as a physiotherapy assistant in London for several years. She was particularly involved in running a pulmonary rehabilitation course for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the clear improvement to peoples quality of life made this a very rewarding part of her work in this field.
This background and experience both shapes and enriches Katrina’s approach as an osteopath. Katrina has a caring and sensitive manner with a particular interest in mind and body interaction, and the intervention of osteopathic techniques to effect the inherent healing mechanisms of the body.
Using a variety of techniques from minimal leverage manipulation, stretch, muscle energy techniques, balanced ligamentous tension and cranial osteopathic techniques; Katrina enjoys treating patients of all ages with a wide range of complaints including acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems, degenerative conditions and the effects of stress on the body. She has experience treating children with emotional and behavioral problems and wants to continue to develop her skills in the pediatric and obstetric fields.
Katrina sees osteopathy as a system of care that can coexist with other healthcare approaches, a manual hands-on approach to well-being with enormous scope. The beauty is the ability to treat a wide variety of symptoms and conditions whilst never losing sight of the individual. Katrina embraces her profession and endeavors to continue to expand her knowledge with post-graduate training to offer her patients the best possible care.
