I studied for three years at the Shiatsu College of Brighton, where I learned the practice of Zen Shiatsu, developed by Shizuto Masunaga.
Masunaga was a professor of psychology at Tokyo University. He was deeply interested in traditional Oriental medicine and did much research into the ancient Chinese texts. He qualified at the Namikoshi school of Shiatsu and taught there for 10 years.
He began to blend those three areas, psychology, orthodox Shiatsu
practice and historical research, combining these with modern Western
understanding of physiology.
His style encompasses both Western and Eastern models of disease
and healing.
Throughout my training I attended workshops with 2 of his pupils, Paul Lunberg and Michael Rose.
I currently practice Chi Gung and Meditation to support my practice.
